	Roy L. Thompson, age 71, of Du Quoin, died on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 5:15 p.m. at his home.
	Roy was born on December 22, 1933 in East St. Louis, IL, a son to Carl L. and Nell B. (Green) Thompson.  He was a veteran of the United States Army Rangers during the Korean Conflict.  He recently graduated from John A. Logan College with a Security Degree and was employed by Night Hawk Coal as a security guard. He was also a retired coal miner.  He was a member of and
actively involved in First Christian Church in Du Quoin, and also a member of American Legion Post 647 in Du Quoin, VFW Club in DuQuoin, D.A.V. in Murphysboro, Masonic Lodge #1030 in Cahokia, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Moose, Eagles Lodge in Du Quoin, Elks Club in DuQuoin, and U.M.W.A.  More importantly he was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
	Survivors include his wife: Joan L. Thompson of Red Bud, one son: Dock and Rhonda Thompson of Belleville, two daughters: Christy L. Anderson of Du Quoin, and Misty and Lee Rujawitz of Belleville, eight grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley, Cody, Jacob, Abby, Andrea, Danielle and Kyle, two
great-grandchildren: Kaylee and Kendra and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Carl R., and two sisters: Lucille Hopson and Zelma Jines and one sister in infancy.
	A memorial service will be held at Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home, Du Quoin on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. John Lewis officiating.  
	Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
	Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church Scholarship Fund, Du Quoin.
